Looking for an Albanian birth certificate? Start by checking exactly what the authority wants. The civil status certificates you can download from e-Albania include the family certificate (certifikatë familjare), the personal certificate (certifikatë personale) and the marriage certificate (certifikatë martese). They are free, carry an electronic seal, and each has a version for use by foreign authorities. If you specifically need a birth certificate (certifikatë lindjeje), Albanian embassies also issue one as a paid consular service, which you apply for through e-Albania.
If you can't get into your account, don't know which certificate you've been asked for, or the details don't match, we can help.

Translation and apostille: what UK and US authorities ask
- UK: for a Skilled Worker visa, for example, GOV.UK says documents that aren't in English or Welsh need a certified translation.
- US: USCIS rules require a full English translation of any foreign-language document, which the translator certifies as complete and accurate, along with a statement that they're competent to translate it.
- Apostille: Albania is a party to the Hague Apostille Convention. Whether you need an apostille depends on the authority, so ask them first.
Before paying for a translation, ask whether they accept the foreign-language version from e-Albania. Our guide explains how to get an Albanian family certificate online yourself: the certificates are free, and you only pay us if you'd rather we handle it.
Frequently asked questions
Will a UK or US authority accept the electronic seal?
It depends on the authority and the purpose. Always ask the body requesting the document whether it accepts the e-sealed PDF, or wants an apostille or a translation.
