Forgot your e-Albania password? On the login page, click "Keni harruar fjalëkalimin tuaj?", enter your personal number (NID), type in the code you receive (it's valid for 120 seconds) and choose a new password. If you live abroad, the code is the tricky part, so check you can open the email on your account first.
Never had an account? You need our guide on how to register on e-Albania instead.
Steps to reset your password
- Go to the official site e-albania.al and click Hyr (Log in).
- Click "Keni harruar fjalëkalimin tuaj?" (Forgot your password?).
- Enter your personal number (NID). It's on your Albanian ID card or passport, in a format like A12345678B.
- Click "Vazhdo identifikimin" (Continue).
- Within a few seconds you'll get a verification code by the method you chose: SMS, email or an authenticator app.
- On the "Valido PIN" page, enter the code within 120 seconds.
- On the "Përditëso fjalëkalimin" (Update password) page, type your new password twice.
- Keep the new password somewhere safe.
A tip on the password: the help page asks for at least 8 characters, with a capital letter and a number. The registration form is stricter: at least 14 characters, with upper- and lower-case letters, numbers and symbols. A password that meets the stricter rules works for both.
If you have a UK, US or other foreign number
When e-Albania introduced the one-time login code in February 2024, users with a foreign phone number were told they would get the 6-digit code by email. So the email address on your account is the key to everything.
Today the help page lists three methods: SMS, email or an authenticator app. When you log in, "Provoni një mënyrë tjetër" (Try another way) lets you switch method. If the email on your account is an old one, recover it with your email provider (Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo and so on) before you start.
Common problems
- The code doesn't arrive. Check your Spam, Junk and Promotions folders, and wait a minute before asking for a new code. Each code only lasts 120 seconds.
- You don't know which email you registered with. It's often the email of a son, daughter or relative who helped the first time. Ask around the family.
- You have neither the old number nor the old email. Write to the official helpdesk, helpdesk@e-albania.al. The Albanian Embassy in London advises sending an ID document or your basic details (name, surname, parents' names, place and date of birth) with a specific request, for example: "Please change my email address to this one." The embassy adds that you can also go to the consulate in person to verify your identity.
Once you're in: update your details
As soon as you're back in, open Profili (Profile) and check Të dhënat personale (Personal details): the email and phone number should be the ones you use today. On your own phone or computer, you can also save the device as trusted, so you aren't asked for a code every time. Never do this on a shared or public computer.
Frequently asked questions
Does resetting the password cost anything?
No. It's free on e-Albania.
Should I just open a new account?
No. The registration form rejects a personal number that has already been registered, so recovering your existing account is the only route.
Can I reset it for my mum or dad?
The account is personal and tied to their personal number, and the code goes to the email or phone on their account. The safest way is a video call: they type, you guide.
Is it the passport number or the personal number?
The personal number (NID). The form expects a format like A12345678B.
