To register on e-Albania, go to e-albania.al, click Regjistrohu (Register), choose Regjistrohu si përdorues (Register as a user) and fill in your personal number (NID), email, ID card expiry date, mobile number, password and personal details. Then activate the account with the 6-digit code sent by SMS and the link sent to your email.
Already have an account but can't get in? You don't need a new one: see e-Albania forgot password.
This guide is for Albanian citizens, who register with their Albanian personal number. Without an account you can browse the portal, but to use its services you need to log in. From abroad, you'll need it for certificates, a pension application and many consular services, such as booking an appointment for a passport or ID card.
What you need before you start
- Your personal number (NID). It's on your Albanian ID card or passport. The form gives A12345678B as an example of the format.
- The expiry date of your Albanian ID card, as day.month.year (DD.MM.YYYY). Once you've typed your NID, the form asks for it if the civil status records hold one, and it must match them exactly. If they don't, the field shows N/A.
- An email address you check regularly. The activation link and every notification about your applications go there. An email address can only be registered to one user.
- A mobile number, which also can only be used by one user. The form has a country list with flags (it starts on Albania; the UK and the US are near the top). e-Albania's help page writes foreign numbers with 00 and the country code, for example 0044 for the UK.
- Your personal details exactly as in the civil registry: first name, surname, father's name (atësia), mother's name (mëmësia) and date of birth.
- A password of at least 14 characters, not starting or ending with a space. The form also asks for upper- and lower-case letters, numbers and symbols.
Registration steps
- Open the official portal e-albania.al and click Regjistrohu.
- Choose Regjistrohu si përdorues.
- Fill in your NID, email, ID card expiry date (if asked), mobile number and password (twice).
- Type your first name, surname, father's name, date of birth and mother's name as they appear on your ID document, with ë and ç where needed.
- Retype the text in the image (captcha), agree to the use of your personal data and click Regjistrohu.
- Activate the account: enter the 6-digit code sent by SMS and click the activation link in your email.
Logging in for the first time
- Click Hyr (Log in) and choose Qytetar (Citizen).
- Enter your NID and password.
- Enter the verification code within 120 seconds. It arrives by SMS, email or an authenticator app; "Provoni një mënyrë tjetër" (Try another way) lets you switch.
On your own phone or computer you can save the device as trusted, so you aren't asked for a code every time. Never do this on a public computer. Then open Profili (Profile) and check Të dhënat personale (Personal details). The documents you generate will be in Dokumentet e mia (My documents).
Common problems from abroad
Your UK or US number isn't accepted, or the SMS doesn't arrive
- Check that the flag matches your country: the form starts on Albania.
- If the number is already used for someone else's account, a son's or daughter's for example, it can't be used for a second user.
- Wait a little before asking for another code. If the SMS never arrives, write to helpdesk@e-albania.al and explain the problem.
- For later logins, you can also get the code by email or through an authenticator app.
The activation email doesn't arrive
- Check your Spam, Junk and Promotions folders.
- Check the address is spelled correctly: one wrong letter and the link goes elsewhere.
- If the email is already used on e-Albania, for example for your child's account, you need a different one.
- Still stuck? Write to helpdesk@e-albania.al or use the contact form on the portal.
"The value doesn't match the civil status records"
e-Albania shows data taken automatically from the institutions' databases and never changes it, so every field must match the civil registry exactly.
- Type names as they are on your ID document, with ë and ç. On Windows: Alt+137 for ë and Alt+135 for ç. On a phone, press and hold the e or c key.
- Check your father's and mother's names carefully, especially if a name has two spellings.
- The ID card expiry date must be the one in the civil status records.
- If the civil registry itself is wrong, the correction isn't made on e-Albania but at the civil status office.
Finding your NID, or your documents have expired
- The NID is on your ID card or passport. It's your personal number, not your passport number.
- If the form asks for an ID card expiry date and you don't know it, don't guess. The Albanian Embassy in London says it can provide your NID and expiry date if you've never registered: email consular.london@mfa.gov.al with a photo of an ID document, your date and place of birth, all the names you've had (including any name before marriage) and your parents' names. Elsewhere, write to helpdesk@e-albania.al.
- Albanians living abroad can apply for an ID card at Albania's diplomatic missions, without applying for a passport at the same time.
An account for a parent
The account is personal and linked to your parent's NID. Use an email and a number that aren't already used for another e-Albania account.
Frequently asked questions
Does opening an account cost anything?
No. Albania's Ministry of Justice has reminded the public that e-Albania public services are free. A few specific services, such as the property certificate, carry a state fee.
Is e-Albania available in English?
There's a language switch at the top of the portal (Shqip / Anglisht, meaning Albanian / English). Many service names and descriptions still appear in Albanian, which is why this guide gives the Albanian labels.
Can I register on my phone?
Yes, the portal works in your phone's browser, and there's also an official e-Albania app for Android and iPhone.
I had an account years ago but can't get in. Should I open a new one?
No. The form rejects a personal number that's already registered. Start with the password reset guide; if you no longer have the old email or number, write to helpdesk@e-albania.al.
Can I use my son's or daughter's email?
Only if that email hasn't been used for another e-Albania account. Remember that notifications, and the codes if email is chosen, will go there. For many parents, a new email address in their own name is the simplest option.
Short on time or stuck?
Then let's do it together. We guide you step by step on WhatsApp, at a fixed price, and never ask for your password or codes. Registering on e-Albania stays free: you only pay for our help.
